Unfaithful Farmer

Mandy Kaye
Planted seeds
never kept warm
Felt insecure
during a storm

Turned your back
on what you started to sow
Not standing firm
to see your gardens grow

Morning sun withered and
drank from our souls
Taking out of us
your unpaid tolls

Each night we would cower
in the mess that you left
Slowly repeating promises
never kept

Bound together
by our own desperate cries
That call for a mother
too distant for goodbyes

I recently discovered your work. This poem is a perfect example of why I am pleased about it! Nicely done.

I'm glad you got your muse back even though its a sad one. Uncared for and neglected, but the neglecter always has promises. This ones good and deep =).
