Unforgettable Country Music Hits!

C.A. Pruit
What is it that makes a song a hit? Even more important, what makes it an unforgettable hit? There are literally thousands and thousands of songs in the country music library and chances are that the songs that are special to you may not be as important to your friends. We all have songs that have particular meaning to us. But what makes a song so special that it becomes an unforgettable hit to a wide range of people?

A song is not an unforgettable hit simply because of the amount of time it has stayed up in the ratings. As a matter of fact, longevity is a result of being a hit. Songs become hits because they appeal to our heart and soul. When we are able to relate to a song, or feel that the singer understands our life, it has special meaning to us. Sometimes you will even hear people say, "they are singing my life story".

Here are a few examples of songs that have become unforgettable hits in the country music field:

"Remember When" by Alan Jackson
As a singer/songwriter Alan Jackson has become a fan favorite and very skilled documentarian of life. His song "remember when" speaks to those feelings of life passing us by and remembering the joy and life we have shared with others. It is a very poetic way of getting us to think about the important things in life. Jackson has had may hits and is not afraid to venture into fun songs as well with songs like his hit "Chattahoochee" or when he teamed up wih legendary singer Jimmy Buffett on some of Buffetts hit songs. But Alan Jackson tugged at our heartstrings again when he sang a special song that he had written and performed it live at the Country Music Awards show. The song was called "Where Were You(When The World Stopped Turning)".

"I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton
For those few of you who may not know this song, Dolly wrote the song and sang it for a few years. It was so popular that it became her theme song, but after Whitney Houston sang the song it went into super-stardom and became known throughout the world. The song was featured on the movie "The Bodyguard".

"The Dance" by Garth Brooks
This song had inspired people everywhere. With it's straight-forward message, the dance speaks about the grief and anguish we endure in life, but how sad it would be to have miss out on living just to avoid the pain. It is a simple reminder to live life to its fullest while we still have the chance.

These are just a few examples. I'm sure there are many more, and like I said you may have songs that are special to you and have an important meaning. Music is very important part of our life ad we can be glad there is always someone out there singing our song.
