Unforgettable Father's Day Gifts: Get Dad Something He Will Actually LIKE!

Susan
Dad has enough ties, coffee cups, and car cleaning supplies to last a lifetime. This year, really WOW him with a gift that he'll never forget! If you're stumped on what to give dad for Father's Day this year, you're checking out the right web site. Associated Content is your one-stop shopping grounds for gift ideas this year.

Just as there are many different types of dads, there are just as many ways to wow your special guy on Father's Day. Read on and you're sure to find something your dad or granddad is sure to love.

1. Find an old picture that you know he loves. Look in his wallet, his toolbox, or his car. Take the picture (be sure not to do any damage, as it may be one from when you were 5 years old!) and have it restored, enlarged, and framed. This could be a picture of you and your siblings, you with a gift he gave you on your first birthday, or just you and your dad. Be sure to put the original picture back in place so he doesn't think you're up to something.

2. Take him out to dinner at a restaurant where he never gets to dine. It may be an expensive restaurant or one that is just too far away to drive to on a regular basis. He'll enjoy the time spent with you eating and on the drive there. Make sure he gets dessert!

3. Figure out what you think his favorite hobby is. It may be old muscle cars, the Coast Guard from which he retired, or hunting. Whatever the topic, find some things that represent his favorite past time and make a collage as a reminder. For example, if you're making a collage for a guy that likes old muscle cars, you could include the following items in a collage picture frame (that you can pick up at any local department store for a few dollars): printed name of his favorite type of car, such as Mopar, Ford, or Chevrolet; pictures of his first and current cars; the original/copy of a sales ticket for his favorite type of car, dated for the same year the car was made; and a sales ticket for the same type of car for the current year (assuming that car is still in production).

4. If he reads a particular newspaper or magazine on a regular basis, buy him a subscription. This will save him the money every week of buying the paper or mag, and it offers him the convenience of not having to go out to pick it up. He'll be reminded every time he gets one in the mail that you love him (or that you want him to catch up on current news topics!).

5. Don't buy him clothes! Get him a gift card to his favorite store so he can pick out his own clothes in his own style. Yes, he wears that handsome green and purple plaid flannel shirt you got him last year, but did you notice he only wears it when you're watching that football game, and NOT leaving the house?!

Here are some other quick-buy ideas if you're in a hurry and don't have time to spend on an intricate gift:

1. Get him a VISA Gift Card from your local bank, such as EVB here in Virginia. Then, he can spend his card almost anywhere he wants!

2. Books about his favorite hobby or past time are available at great prices on Amazon.com...check out their site and all their great items.

3. Music CDs by his favorite band or singer are also available at Amazon.com.

4. DVDs of movies that he has always liked, or that you and him have enjoyed watching together

5. A new set of Fishing Poles...and an afternoon of fishing!

6. Gas Card (as expensive as gas is, he'll love this!). You can get one at any local gas stations, such as 7 Eleven here in Virginia.

7. Season Tickets to his favorite teams' games. If that's too expensive, he would probably like tickets to a local team's games just as much.

8. Golf Balls and Tees, Football, or other sports equipment that he is interested in.

9. A Hammock and pillow set for lounging around and getting some fresh air on the weekends.

10. Grill Set--tongs, spatula, etc. if he's a chef when it com
