Uni-5: The World's Enemy by Bone Thugs Album Review

Rich Jones
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is a Rap group that has found a great deal of success within music because of their unique blend of Hip Hop lyrics with a sound of Blues. Their demonic beats create a unique sound that allows the group to stand apart from any other Rap music group in history. According to Billboard charts available via their website at Billboard.com, Bone Thugs have sold over 100 million records since their first major label release in 1994. They were discovered by Easy E and signed based on a fast style rap that group leader Krayzie Bone demonstrated on the spot upon meeting the Rap music legend. The quick style of Rap became a signature of the Bone Thugs group and one of their most successful songs to ever be released was titled Tha Crossroads off their 1997 CD titled E1999. The group eventually split up and then reunited for the 2000 release of their CD titled BTNHResurrection. This CD was unique because it was their first reunion CD and it kept to the Bone Thugs style of fast Rap songs and I would consider this a 5/5 project. However, Bone Thugs went on to break up again and their reunion CD titled Uni-5: The World's Enemy was scheduled for release in 2010. Since I am a big fan of Bone Thugs,I decided to pre order their CD at my local Best Buy for 8.99 and I hoped it would be as good as their previous releases.

Upon listening to Uni-5: The World's Enemy I can tell you that I am disappointed in this release. The reason is that Bone no longer has dirty rap lyrics that they were once known for. They are known as Bone Thugs but most of the songs on this CD are singing about God and going to heaven. There is no maturity within the lyrics on this CD but there is a lack of content within the lyrics. This is essentially a CD with very little lyrical value and no playback value. The best tracks on this CD are My Life and Gone. The CD isn't worth $9 and nor is it worth listening to for 62 minutes of your life. Uni-5: The World's Enemy marks the reunion of Bone Thugs and it is by far the worse CD I have ever heard from them. I rate this 2/5 and I suggest that you save your money.
