Founded by Ceecee Thomas, Alex Pulsipher, Molly McClellan, Eric Dixon, Kristina Mynatt, and Ali Blair, Unify's mission is to create a space for truth expressed through movement and the arts. They believe that through celebration people can facilitate deeper emotional and spiritual connections to the world around them. "We hear all about work ethics growing up from our teachers and employers. I think to be balanced human beings we should take time to focus on play and connection. There is a magical kind of intelligence to play, art, and heartfelt human connection. It's definitely worth exploring." States Molly McClellan, co-founder.
Unify holds monthly events and meetings. Each month their highlighted event called "Conscious Party" brings together those of like mind to an outdoor location for dance, music, hoop, conversation, prayer and meditation. There is an altar presented for members of the community to place a sacred object on the altar, regardless of its religious tradition. Meditations and sacred drum circles are led by Eric Dixon, djembe drum master, to bring a sense of mindfulness to the event. Ceecee Thomas, co-founder offers this insight: "There is no set Path. Follow your heart. When we Unify as one, not based on income, religion, color, or differences yet find common threads to join together in true expression of oneself the world will know peace. Shine your light, just be who you are".
Unify is open to members of the public that believe in peace and conscious self expression. They seek to maintain the value of each and every human being in the world through the transcendent expression of love. Co-Founder Ali Blair states: "Unify provides space for radical self-expression and acceptance gatherings where personal belief is encouraged and valued. We relate through and appreciate the power of play and most importantly. We look one another in the eye and see family. I want to see this kind of heart connection to be the basis of all our interactions."
Unify Knoxville is reminiscent of the flower power generation of the 1960s, but with a deeper sense of responsibility. Alex Pulsipher, co-founder says: "Unify helps me deepen my own spiritual awakening by connecting me with other free spirited folk who are going through the same thing."
Unify Knoxville is the necessary thread in the tapestry of life.
