Union County, Ill., authorities are currently looking for a fugitive from justice.
In a statement released jointly by their offices, Union County Sheriff David Livesay and Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds are seeking the public's help in apprehending Bryan T. Todd, who was last believed to be in the Anna area. The request for help from the public was put out at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Todd, who has been previously charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, is wanted on a warrant for residential burglary and possession of stolen firearms.
According to a supplemental statement put out by Livesay and Edmonds, Todd is believed to be traveling in a vehicle that was stolen from rural Dongola, Ill., a town 10 miles south of Anna, on the evening of Nov. 22. The vehicle that authorities believe Todd to be travelling in is a 1991 Ford Escort two-door hatchback with faded paint with Illinois registration A692389.
Todd, is a 26-year-old white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bryan T. Todd should contact the Union County Sheriff's Department at (618) 833-5500.
Livesay and Edmonds cautioned the public in their statement: "DO NOT TAKE ACTION YOURSELF! The individual named should be apprehended by law enforcement personnel only."
Update: A joint statement released by Livesay and Edmonds Nov. 23 at 12:02 p.m. reports that the stolen vehicle has been found abandoned in Anna.
Update: The fugitive was taken into custody by the Union County Sheriff's Department by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. Todd was apprehended in the rural area of Old Cape Road, south of Jonesboro, Ill.
According to an afternoon update, "The Union County State's Attorney's Office and the Union County Sheriff's Department would like to thank the public and the media for their cooperation in this matter."
Edmond's office "reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
