Unique Bracelet Jewelry Craft

Janet Trieschman
This bracelet is a great idea for using up all your single beads or other beads you aren't sure what to make with them. The Unique Bracelet utilizes a variety of beads that relate to each other visually either in size, shape or color. While you don't have to use unrelated beads for this project, you can create this bracelet with all the same beads or related beads. Each option will result in a different look to your bracelet. The quality of wire you use as well as the color of the wire will result in varying visual options as well.

Materials:

Beading wire (20 gauge suggested)

Unique Beads - amount varies dependent upon desired length

Clasp - magnetic, lobster or create a hook and loop

Round nose pliers

Flat nose pliers

Wire cutter

Directions:

  1. Cut the wire into 2" lengths. The same amount of wire as beads you are going to use.
  2. For each cut piece of wire, begin about a 1/2" in from the end of the wire and wrap it around the round nose pliers making a loop. Use the short end of the wire grasping it with the flat nose pliers and wrap it around the stem of the wire three times. Any left over wire trim off with the wire cutters. These are the links for the bracelet. Continue until each piece of wire has a loop on one end.
  3. Slide a bead onto each piece of wire.
  4. Start with one wire and bead and make a loop at the other end then wrapping the stem, three times, cutting off the excess wire same as above.
  5. Pick up a second wire/bead combination and bend the open-end 90 degrees. Slip on the first wire that is now a closed loop. Now, close the wire on the second wire/bead combination again wrapping three times and discarding excess wire. Now, you have two links joined together.
  6. Continue this linking action described in #5 until you have your desired length of bracelet.
  7. Finish the bracelet by adding your desired clasp closure to the ends of the bracelet.

Magnetic closures work well for bracelets since they are easy to use. If you don't have a clasp, you can easily create one bending the wire to create a loop for one end of the bracelet and then a hook for the other end of the bracelet.
