Unique Chocolate Desserts for Your Wedding Reception - Women may not be able to agree with each other about anything, but the one thing most women will always agree on is that a good piece of chocolate makes just about anything better. Retailers have cashed in on our propensity for the sweet over the years, recently making gourmet pieces in individual wrapping so that we can indulge without worry. Thank you for listening, Dove! Most women, when they get married, incorporate chocolate into the wedding. Chocolate wedding cakes, chocolate party favors, and even chocolate drinks are presented for their guests' enjoyment. However, how does a bride who wants a unique wedding incorporate chocolate into the desserts? Here are some ideas to help make your wedding day even more memorable:

1 - Chocolate covered strawberries are a lovely treat with your wedding cake. What if when the guests received their cake and fruit, the strawberries had chocolate tuxedos or white chocolate dresses painted on them to make wedding strawberries?

2 - Chocolate mousse is an elegant dessert, but in recent years plain old chocolate mousse has gone by the wayside. Why not have chocolate mousse layered desserts? White chocolate mousse sandwiched between milk and dark chocolate mousse looks extremely elegant when served in a clear cup. You can even request this served with chocolate shavings on the top.

3 - Everybody loves an ice cream sundae, but why not take it a step further? Ice cream parfaits, layered with chocolate syrup and your choice of chocolate toppings (crushed Oreos, sprinkles, M&Ms, chocolate chips) are a delicious ending to a filling wedding meal. I have seen the ice cream service bypassed in favor of a sundae bar in several weddings. While one would think this would appeal mostly to the children at the event, the adults were the ones lining the room for their chance to make a banana split or brownie sundae. A few even fought over the whipped cream! Creativity reigns with this idea.

4 - Chocolate fountains are a beloved wedding treat, and seen more often than ever before. Why not personalize this dessert by having a chocolate fondue on each table? Pretzels, marshmallows, fruit, pretzels, pretty much if it can be dipped in chocolate, it should be dipped in chocolate.

5 - Another trend is the candy table, in which guests make their own goody bags at a table piled high with chocolates and candy. These are always a fun addition. If you take it a step further, you could have just a chocolate pretzel bar or a chocolate truffle bar. One bride with whom I'm friendly had a "Godiva Bar." We could make our own chocolate goody bags from the enormous selection of Godiva chocolates. She also served chocolate martinis.

6 - Chocolate molds of the initials of the betrothed, their hobbies, or just plain chocolate pieces colored to match the décor are a delicious treat and uniquely coordinated with the wedding. If it's a seashore wedding, why not have chocolate seashells as part of dessert? If it's a Las Vegas wedding, you can buy chocolate Elvis molds online. The sky's the limit on this one, and it isn't just novel, it's quite tasty.

Had I been married in winter, my guests would have received a mug of hot chocolate and a big plate of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. To me, this is the perfect end to any happy event on a cold, snowy day.

The key to incorporating chocolate is to think creatively. The options for brides and grooms have expanded far beyond the chocolate bars that are given out as favors with a printed message from the couple. All you need is a little ingenuity, and a love for chocolate, of course. Happy planning!
