You can find this "Build-A-Bear Workshop®" in the lower level of the Easton Station, in the
South District. Their address is 3995 Gramercy Street, Columbus, OH 43219. And, their phone number is (614) 473-8888. (The corporate website is www.buildabear.com.)
Now, you are probably wondering what makes the gifts from this business so much fun and so different than the run-of-the-mill gifts you can find on every other store shelf. The answer? You just don't choose a stuffed animal, but you actually make it yourself! There are more than 25 animals, including bears, cats, dogs, snowmen, Sesame Street's Elmo and Cookie Monster, bunny, moose frog, pony, monkey, gator, unicorns, flamingos, and more! You can find the perfect stuffed friend for anyone on your holiday list. The animals in the "Build-A-Bear Workshop®" are a quite affordable too, as they range in price from $10 to $25.
The first thing you do when you go into the Build-A-Bear Workshop®, is to pick out the animal you want. I chose a small brown teddy bear for someone on my list who has a penchant for bears.
Then, you move down the line and give it a heart which is placed inside its chest. Your stuffed friend is then filled by a machine. It's then placed inside a vessel that resembles a bathtub. The animal is then fluffed.
And finally, here comes the most fun part! You need to dress your stuffed animal from a wide assortment of over 250 outfits! There are shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, skirts, NFL uniforms, MLB uniforms, NBA uniforms, pajamas, swimwear, denim and seasonal outfits, and many more outfits available at the "Build-A-Bear Workshop®".
You may also choose to put a pair of boxers, briefs, or panties under your animal's outfit. And, there are also saddles shoes, cleats, sandals, boot, slippers, dress shoes, and others you can purchase to adorn their feet with. You can also purchase socks, purses, hats, belts, glasses, and other accessories to finish your unique creation with.
The final cost of your unique "Build-A-Bear" project depends on which animal you choose, plus, how many clothes and accessories you dress them with. I chose a simple pajama and hat outfit for my teddy bear gift. I wasn't being a "cheap Santa." I just knew that the intended recipient wanted a "bedtime" type, fuzzy bear. The bear itself was $18. and its outfit was an additional $8. to give you a better idea of total costs.
Before my gift from the "Build-A-Bear Workshop®" was complete, he needed to have a birth certificate made up. I named him "Easton" so the recipient would remember that he came from the Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio. His name, height, weight, date of birth, fur color, eye color, and the name of the person the teddy bear belonged to was placed on the birth certificate. I also put on the bottom of the large paper, "Made With Love By", and my name.
My finished "Easton" stuffed animal was finally placed in a Cub Condo® carrying case along with his birth certificate, and my visit to the "Build-A-Bear Workshop®" was complete.
Personally, the whole experience was so much fun that I quickly thought of someone else on my Christmas list that I could build a unique bear for. So, I got back in line and started to decide what I could create the second time around!
The hours at this shop located in the Easton Town Center in Columbus are Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00PM; Friday and Saturday from 10:00AM to 10:00PM;
and on Sunday they are open from noon to 6:00PM. The "Build-A-Bear Workshop®" gladly accepts Mastercard, VISA, American Express, and Discover credit cards.
And finally, if you're looking for a fun, interesting job, Build-A-Bear Workshop® says they are always on the lookout for "Master Bear Builders"!
