Unique Christmas Ornaments, Christmas Ornaments with Meaning

Julia Jean
I love Christmas ornaments. They have very special meanings to me. Every year, when I get out my ornaments to decorate my tree I am thrilled as each one has a memory of sort. Before I retired, we would have a Christmas ornament exchange at work. It was always a lot of fun.
I always would look for a unique Christmas ornament to give. For example, I had a newlywed peer of mine. So I went to Hallmark and bought an ornament for their first Christmas together which had the year on it. So I hope when they get out their ornaments in the years to come and decorate their tree each year, it will bring a special memory to them.

I live in southern California. I live close to Disneyland. Downtown Disney has a Christmas store. They have all kinds of unique Christmas items and ornaments. Including, Disney character ornaments. Inside Disneyland park, they also have a small Christmas store over in the New Orleans area. It is opened year round and you can find really nice Christmas ornaments of all kinds.

I was at the beach the other day, and I was walking by a store that sells nautical items and lots of seashells items. In the window display they had the cutest ornaments. It was a starfish which they dressed up like a surfer. They had the "surfer guy" with a surfboard and sunglasses and swim trunks on him. They also had the "surfer girl" with sunglasses and a surfboard and a bikini on. Perfect gift for the surfer in the family. I am going to go back and buy a couple. That I thought was a very unique ornament! It was so reasonable. It was like $2.00 each.

Besides Hallmark and their unique and speciality ornaments, I have found during the holidays at the local mall, an ornament store for the Christmas season only. They are expensive and very fragile as they are made from glass. I love buying these as they are so pretty and elegant on my Christmas tree. Depending on where you live, I would think many malls would have these kind of stores for the holiday season.

So as I hang each ornament with care, it brings back memories of where I bought it, or who gave it to me. 13 years ago, my son suddenly lost his fiance. In memory of her, I found an angel ornament that I hang on my tree each year. This year, I lost my 15 year old nephew to muscular dystrophy in March. So, I will be out looking to find an ornament to place on my tree in memory of him. Each year, when I hang it on my tree it will be in remembrance him.

To me, ornaments are a treasure for my tree. I am proud to display my beautiful tree each year. I always get many compliments on my tree. I even have the ones with my children's names engraved on them (who are now grown) that I still hang. I also have ornaments with my grandchildren's name on them as well.

An ornament is always a great gift to give to anyone!
