Christmas place cards can add an extra touch to any holiday table. Holiday gatherings during the Christmas season are a great time to use your creativity to make unique Christmas place cards for your friends and family. Christmas place cards can be both simple and meaningful, and the work you put into creating Christmas place cards will be worth the effort. There are a number of ways to create unique Christmas place cards. The first consideration is deciding on what theme you will have for your holiday gathering. If you are hosting Christmas dinner for family, with a traditional table setting, you may want to consider using the Christmas place cards as designated seating cards. This will work well with holiday gatherings of friends or couples too. Many guests feel more comfortable when they have a designated seat at the holiday table.

Christmas Memories Place Cards

One unique idea for Christmas place cards for families is to create Christmas place cards which highlight past Christmas memories. To create a Christmas Memories place card for each guest, you will first need to locate some holiday photos. Once you have a holiday photo of each guest, you can purchase some inexpensive 3x5 or 4x6 photo frames. Many discount retailers, such as the Christmas Tree Store, Dollar Tree, or Dollar Store offer these small frames for under $1 each.

The next step is to frame the photos. The frames can be identical or you can use a variety of small frames. Choose frames that have a kick stand in the back so they can be placed upright on the table. You can decorate each frame with a number of small craft items and secure with a glue gun or with Superglue. Small red bows, Christmas scrapbook cut outs, or shiny metallic ribbon are just a few of the touches you can add to the photo frames to create unique Christmas place cards.

The best feature of the Christmas Memories place cards is the place cards can be given to each guest as a small memento of your holiday gathering. Old photos and childhood photos of Christmases past are especially nostalgic for this project.

Holiday Card and Quotes Christmas Place Cards

If you have children who want to help with the Christmas place cards this year, the Holiday Card and Quotes place card idea is a great way to include kids in the holiday fun. For this Christmas place card project you will need to purchase one box of mixed Christmas cards. If you happen to have old Christmas cards on hand, you can recycle those cards for the project. In addition to the Christmas cards, you will need a pair of scissors, metallic or gel pen marker, glue, cardstock paper (holiday colors), and some glitter or glitter glue.

Start by folding your cardstock quality paper in half, and then folding once more. The paper should be quartered and folded in a way so it can stand up on the table. The next step is to begin cutting out Christmas designs from your holiday cards. Scrapbooking cut outs work for this project as well. Once you have compiled small Christmas card cut outs, begin to cut out the inside quotes or holiday greetings and set them in a separate pile.

If you have a pair of crafting scissors to create borders on the place cards, you can cut along the outside edges to add an additional effect. Otherwise, you can begin to glue Christmas cut outs and quotes to the front of the Christmas place cards. Each Christmas place card will then have its own unique design. If you wish to add a name to each place card, use the metallic or gel pen to write neatly on the front of each place card. Glitter can be added to brighten up the Christmas place cards in careful amounts.

Once your Christmas place cards are completed, allow them to set for at least an hour. The completed project should look personalized and creative, in an informal but unique way. This is one of the best Christmas place card ideas for families who have crafty children.
