What you need: Matchbox cars, brightly colored card stock, pens/markers, hot glue gun, a positive attitude, a snack to munch on.
Now that you've gathered all the appropriate ingredients (snacks aren't necessary but are conducive to having a great time), here's a step by step process of what to do.
a. Round up all your matchbox cars. You can often find these at inexpensive prices at dollar stores, flea markets, Goodwill and even shopping centers like Wal-mart and Target. If you bought them used, give them a good dusting. If you bought them new, take them out of the wrapper.
b. Cut your brightly-colored card stock (ie. Yellow, green, red, blue) into 3x3 inch squares. Details matter, so use a ruler or a paper cutter to get pristine edges. Either that or be extra careful if you cut them with scissors!
c. Write the necessary information on the card stock. Keep it simple and clean: What, When, Where, Be There! You can include fun themed phrases like "Race to (location) by (time)." Make sure you include the type of party (ie. Daytona 500, nascar, car race) and write it in a place that your recients will see it right away!
d. Plug in your hot glue gun and let the glue get hot. Put a small dab on the bottom of your card stock and gently place it on the rear of your matchbox car. Hold it for several seconds and then release once the card stock has safely adhered to the toy car.
e. Time to hand out your homemade Daytona 500 invations! Since this 3-d invitations aren't mail-friendly, have fun placing them in fun places! Leave them on your neighbors doorstep, place one on your co-workers desk or hand deliver them to your friends and family. They'll definitely get a hoot out of this unique and creative invitation!
