Mini-Beach Ball Invitations
You can find packs of mini-beach balls ranging from 5 to 7 inches by doing a Google search on-line. I found a 24 pack of 5.5 inch mini-beach balls for $13.95 at Medibadge.com that are perfect to create these invitations.
Take one beach ball and a felt tip marker or Sharpie and very carefully write the location, time and date of the party on the beach ball. Don't forget an RSVP number and the name of the host or hostess. You may want to practice writing out the information a few times on a scrap piece of paper before you start on the beach ball. Once you are done writing out the information; let the writing dry then blow up the beach ball and hand deliver it to your guests.
Any of the left over beach balls can be used as decorations for your party.
Flip Flop Invitations
Walmart, Target, and even some dollar stores sell toddler flip flops that can be used for this invitation project. You will only need one flip flop per guest; so if you have an odd number of guests you will be left with a stray flip flop since you will buy them in pairs. Take a felt tip marker or Sharpie and write the location, time, date, RSVP number, and host or hostess on the flip flop and hand deliver to your guest.
Get creative with the writing on the flip flop. Use the straps to write a phone number or the width on the sides to write the address. Experiment with different colors of markers as well.
You can also note a beach dress code on each of the invitations; such as, Hawaiian shirts or swim suits. You may also consider doing a best dressed contest; whoever has the best Hawaiian/beach attire wins a door prize.
Plastic Sand Bucket with Shovel Invitations
You can find inexpensive sand buckets and shovels at your local Dollar Tree or Dollar General that are well suited for these invitations. You will also want to purchase sand, which can be found at gardening shops or craft stores.
Fill each bucket half way with sand then partially insert the shovel into the sand. You will then want to take a note card or thick construction paper and write out the desired information (location, time, date, RSVP number, and host or hostess). Stick the detailed note into the sand near the shovel.
You can now hand deliver your reusable invitation to your guests; be careful though, this can be messy if spilled!
