Unique Fathers Day Gifts Under $20 for Sports Loving Dads

Lori Voth
Gifts for men do not always have to be practical and gadget-y. While useful presents can undoubtedly be great and often very much desired, everyone- man and woman alike- deserve to enjoy a little leisure time in their schedule every once in a while.

If you think your dad would be one to appreciate a less productivity oriented fathers day present this year, you might enjoy the following list of unique gift ideas. For this particular list, I've gathered a few of my favorite Father's Day gift options whose themes are related to a love for sports and whose price tags are $20 or less.

Mr. Potato Head as Sports Fanatic $15.99

Mr. Potato Head just got cooler. And extremely athletic. Is your dad a sports fan? Joes Sports, Outdoor and More is currently offering for $15.99 the Mr. Potato Head childhood favorite- only instead of those silly thick rimmed glasses you can now deck him out in something much more hip, and specific to your interests. Such as the sports gear from your favorite athletic team, for example. Hundreds of teams are available to choose from; visit this link to view the choices. Depending on the selection Mr. Potato Head toy doll comes with such interchangeable accessories as your favorite sports team uniform, the mascot costume outfit and more.

Golfer's Guide to the Meaning of Life $5.82

While Gary Player is best known for his professional mastery over the game of golf during the 1960s and 1970s, he was apparently successful in multiple areas of his life and career. Player draws on lessons he has learned from the game of golf that have helped him in maintain effectiveness in the various roles he took on in life, both in the business world as well as in positions where more personal responsibilities were required. As he combines the practice of golfing with rules of life, the Golfer's Guide to the Meaning of Life is said to inspire both golfers and non-golfers alike. Currently this book is being sold at Overstock.com for $5.82.

Crossword Puzzle Baseball $20

A unique type of crossword puzzle. These creative crossword challengescenter around the theme of baseball and the physical puzzle is appropriately presented as a three-dimensional sphere resembling a baseball. The handmade crossword puzzle baseball, entitled "Batter Up" was edited by Will Shortz, head of The New York Times Crosswords and Founder of the Annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. Batter Up can currently be purchased from Uncommon Goods for $20.

Drag Racing Alarm Clock $19.95

Drag Racing enthusiasts will feel instantly pepped up and motivated to start the day with this drag racing themed fully functional alarm clock. And actually, in the reviewers personal opinion this anti-sleep assistant is so cool looking in appearance alone that she'd be inclined to presume pretty much anyone might appreciate it, racy or not. Visually, the alarm clock stands vertically (9'5" high to be precise) with colored lights which flash according to the progression of the make believe race it is trying to simulate for your multi-sensory wake up experience. It also offers an 8,000 Horsepower wake up call for the pleasure of your eardrums.
Along with a snooze option and other traditional alarm clock components this item is claimed to contain working temperature and humidity gauges- which seems a bit bizarre to me and I must admit I'm rather baffled about how one might possibly put these features to practical alarm clock use, but regardless of that, one cannot deny this unique alarm clock represents the sport of drag racing in a very thorough and creatively awesome manner.
