Unique Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas

Homemade costumes are fun to make and even better than store bought since they can be very unique. Here's a list of very simple and inexpensive ideas that will make you the hit of Halloween!

Lost-and-Found Sock Person

Gather a bunch of mis-matched socks of all shapes, sizes and color. Using safety pins, pin them all over a pair of pants and a shirt. You can make a sign that says "Lost Socks" or "Sock Monster" and pin it to the front of your shirt, or wear it like a necklace.

Accident Victim

Tear a set of old clothes up, and smear fake blood all over them(found at any Halloween store). Wrap an arm and a leg in big bandages. Use fake blood to black makeup to make the face look bruised and bloody. Mess hair up, bunching it and making some knots if desired. When you go out, limp!

Present

Find a big box, and wrap it up to look like a birthday or Christmas present. Cut out room for the head, arms and legs. Purchase an extra large bow, and use ribbon or yarn to keep it secured to the top of the head.

Lego

Get a big box and paint it your child's favorite color. Cut out small circles of sponge, paint them the same, and glue them on. Cut out space for arms, legs, and head.

Box of Popcorn

Paint a large box with red and white stripes, and then paint on the word POPCORN. Pop a bunch of popcorn, when cooled and hardened a bit, glue it on the box around your neck and head. You can also use the leftover pieces to make a hat of some sort, with strings attached to go around your head. Glue popcorn on that, too. Cut out and make a big stick of butter prop to carry around.

Miss America

Find an old bridesmaid or similar dress at a thrift shop. Add on a nice pair of gloves, a crown or tiara of some sort, large, sparkly costume jewelry, and lots of glittery makeup and nails. Using a wide white ribbon, fashion a banner with "Miss America" written on it in glitter.

Static Cling

Wear all black or all white. Safety pin various items to yourself:socks, underwear, fabric softener sheets, etc. Spray hair so it sticks up all over the place!

Train Engineer

Very simple to make-all you need is a pair of nice blue jeans with a blue jean jacket. Throw on a red and black bandanna and a white engineers hat. as props, don a lantern(can be a toy) and a whistle.
