Unique Ideas for Single People on Valentine's Day

Amy Stepp
If you are single it is hard to get excited about Valentine's day. It is a day that celebrates couples in love and if you are single it is just a constant reminder that you are alone and without a date. However, just because you are single it does not mean that you can not have a great time celebrating the holiday. I have five great ways that allows any single person be able to express great joy when Valentine's day comes around.

Single Activity #1
Volunteer

The best way to express love during Valentine's day is to give some of your heart to people who have no one to share the day with. Head out to a nursing home around your area and spend the afternoon (or maybe just an hour) with an elderly person who has to be stuck in one of those places. To see a new face, to have someone to share the day of love with will truly light up their afternoon and often make them stop thinking about being cooped up in the nursing home all day. This in return will make your heart feel good. Giving your time and your patience can really make a difference!

Single Activity #2
Cooking Time

Most couples end up going out to eat at a fancy restaurant for Valentine's day. Being single is already a bad reminder that you do not have a date to share it with, so why would you want to even grace a restaurant alone that night? Instead, go over to www.campbells.com, or even a favorite recipe site you may have, and find yourself a unique recipe that you have never tried before. Head out to the store and pick you up all the ingredients for the dish you will be making that night. Cook yourself something great and don't forget to pick up a movie to make it a single date night at your house!

Single Activity #3
Grab The Keys

If you have been wanting to go somewhere near by, like exploring a place in your town that you have not yet done, then do so on Valentine's day. Make a road trip to that unique plantation home that you have been wanting to explore or maybe your town has a old cemetery that people have been telling you to check out.

Single Activity #4
I Always Wanted To Do That

If there is something that you always wanted to try then this is the perfect day to do so. Since being single on Valentine's day is all about yourself, try an activity that you have been wanting to do for ages. It could be skydiving, skiing, ice-skating and so on. The possibilities are endless!

Single Activity #5
An Overnight Trip

Have you ever wondered what it felt like to stay at hotel alone for a night or maybe go on a camping trip alone? Take an overnight trip to a destination of your choice. Take along a nice book to read, some music that is your favorite and leave the headphones at home because this trip you will not have someone telling you to "turn that music down!" and also make sure you have a picture of your ex and some push pins to destroy the picture so you do not have a constant reminder of how he did you wrong. Of course you can leave the picture of him or her at home, however you can make this trip a trip of renewal for your mind and body and soul since your ex somehow destroyed your trust in the opposite sex!
