Unique Menu Items at Well Known Restaurants

Many culinary enthusiasts travel over land and sea to try unique foods and dishes. Often these delicacies are very costly and thus not readily available to most. Today however, a number of national franchises and fast food entities have added interesting and even somewhat odd items to their menus. With prices of less than $5, why not give these eats a try.

Lee's Famous Recipe

Fried pickles are a popular treat in the south. They are made by dipping a dill pickle in a bread batter made of flour, salt, pepper and other seasonings. Thanks to Lee's Famous Recipe (a nationally recognized fried chicken eatery) this southern snack is now available throughout the Midwest and various cities in the north. Pickles can be purchased in packages of three (for $1.49) or eight (for $3.99), and are served with your choice of dipping sauce including sweet and sour, buffalo or ranch.

Jack in the Box

Chicken or steak teriyaki is a dish you might expect to order at an Asian inspired diner, not a hamburger joint. Nonetheless, the national fast food chain, Jack in the Box, has added this Japanese dish to their menu. The dish includes a flavorful combination of carrots, broccoli and teriyaki sauce served over a bed of rice. Sample this dish during your next visit to Jack in the Box for less than $5.

Arby's

If you like hot peppers and other spicy foods, you are sure to enjoy the jalapeno poppers served at Arby's. Poppers are created by removing the inner core of the pepper, and replacing it with creme cheese. The poppers are then fried in a bread batter and served with a delicious berry sauce. A package of poppers with sauce costs less than $3.

Culver's

Deep fried cheese curds are a popular snack in the northern regions of the Midwest. Made with both white and yellow cheddar, cheese curds are breaded and then prepared in a deep fryer. For about $3.50 a package, you too can try this favorite fair and carnival treat at any Culver's restaurant. Quickly expanding, the Culver's brand can be enjoyed in a number of states including Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.

Unique and innovative dishes are becoming the norm for national chains and fast food restaurants everywhere. The next time you are visiting your favorite fast food restaurant, check over the menu to see what might be new. You might just find a favorite of your own.
