Unique Names for Male and Female Dogs

Ashley Woods
Picking a dog name can be challenging, but all you really need to do is rely on your creativity. Here are some tips and some suggestions for your pup's name.

Pick a name that describes your dog's personality, for example, when I was young my parents brought home a dog and we named him Wags because his tail was wagging so much it kept hitting the sides of his kennel. Or pick a name for your dog that describes something you love, for example, my husband and I currently own a pit bull named Packer. He is named after the Green Bay Packers, of course, because my husband is such a huge fan.

Here are some unique name suggestions; you can also check out the sources I used for more suggestions!

Male

Alpha, cute name for a frat dog.

Dawg, well, I thought it was funny.

Echo, I really like this one!

Midnight, good for a black or dark brown dog.

Little-foot, cute and funny!

Eclipse, not after the car though!

Ace, cute for avid card players.

Blueprint, good for a blue Australian Shepherd

Charmer, cute!

Puddles, should be my dog's name, he loves puddles!

Storm, cute!

Female

Godiva, perfect for a chocolate colored pup!

Aries, or any of the astrological signs!

Sobriety, actually the name of my mom's cat that she found outside of an AA building, but it would be cute for a dog too!

Hugs and Kisses, two names I picked for two previous dogs I owned at the same time.

Heart-breaker, so cute for a small dog, especially a miniature poodle.

Peaches, cute!

Beauty, love it!

Valentine, cute for a little pup.

Wink, if only dogs could wink!

Flirt, adorable!

These are cute. I've noticed that regular "people names" are becoming more popular for dogs too.
