With so much going on, in the air and around us, it's often a problem to use chemically based treatment to prevent or ease medical issues. Sometimes we need to back away from the medicine and return to nature for a cure. I discovered while going through two months of the harshest cough I have ever endured that the medicines prescribed by my physician were just not doing the job.
It became more and more obvious that in order to survive and begin to strengthen my body and immune system, I had to change the way I was doing some things and seek alternative methods to ease and prevent the cough or I might create more of a problem even the scare of a ruptured Larynx.
Of course there are thousands of people who recommend honey and lemon for easing a cough, but I discovered that using the mixture without the gin or rum was best for me. I am not an alcoholic and have problems drinking any type of alcoholic beverage, so it was hard for me to accept friends recommendations to drink lemon and honey with gin or rum. I wanted something to ease the cough and Lord knows I needed the sleep. So I mixed the two ingredients (lemon juice and honey) together and placed the mixture on the stove to heat. I added a little apple cider vinegar to the mixture. Seemed to work almost miraculously. Drinking this mixture during the day seemed to ease the cough, prevent some of the phlegm from producing and prevent the spasms that were causing harm to my larynx.
Vicks VapoRub is one of the ointments I remember using or being used by my mother and grandmother on me as a child. I had gotten away from using Vicks VapoRub until I suffered with this cough. The dire need to do something, anything to ease the cough made me consider things from my past. Since the major thrust of the cough was coming from my Larynx and not my chest, I rubbed Vicks on my throat right in the center of my neck, covered the area with warm towel and went to bed. Each night, while doing this, seemed to ease the cough and help me to sleep longer during the night. Several days using the Vicks eased the cough tremendously and allowed me to be able to even begin sleeping through the night.
It is easy and very convenient to call your doctor and get a prescription for medicine. However, with the problem some of us are experiencing, medicines are only causing more health issues in addition to slowly destroying our health. When the cough began to cause damage to my larynx I feared the worse and began to seek other ways to ease the cough. Natural, back to nature, healing from the earth, whatever you want to call it is far better than chemical based medicines which seem to not do anything other than cause more health issues.
