When selecting photographs for your AC submissions, or other written pieces of work, you can use digital photo software to add interesting effects to your photograph. Exploring these options will assist in making your published content, on Associated Content, more pleasing to the eye and, ultimately, may lead to more page views.
One interesting aspect of digital photography involves the use of duplicate layers. Creating two versions of the same photograph, and then overlaying them, you create a new and interesting photograph. Such modifications might include changing the saturation level, adjusting density or even contrast. Doing this to two copies of the same photo, and the digitally overlaying the photographs, will net one final piece of photography artwork.
Another interesting way to create unique photos for your submissions on Associated Content involves the cut and paste of one photo and then digitally imposed into another. For example, you may find a great photograph of clouds and would like to place them over a picture of a mountain. Using a cut and paste option, the two photographs can be blended, refined and then modified in color and texture. In fact, this is a great way to add photographs that involve the elements, sun, water, sky and mountains.
And, yet, there is even a more artistic way in which to boost your photographs, through using multiple layers. Without modifying the texture or look of the pictures, you can use a blending mode to set three or four pictures together, creating a feathering effect into each. In fact, this style of digital enhancement of photographs is quite common on the front of marketing brochures.
Another great option to consider is the use of digital photo processing sites, such as www.kodak.com, where you can create a collage out of several photographs. Once done, you can save the sample as a jpg. attachment and use this as the submission with your Associated Content works.
While attaching photographs is often a very time consuming process, it is a great way to boost the viewership of your published works. While photos are not applicable to every content submission, there are many that would benefit from a photograph to not only capture the reader's attention but also to hold it long enough to read your written material.
