Getting Your Child's Christmas Stocking Ready? Why Not Consider One of These Themes?

Christmas is coming and soon it will be time to make stockings for our children. Wouldn't it be nice to do something different this year? You can create a themed Christmas stocking that your child will enjoy and have fun with the tiny treasures for days and weeks after Christmas. A themed stocking can be fun especially if your child has a special interest.

One thing that is a lot of fun about Christmas stockings is to gift wrap every item in the stocking. Gift wrap them using different colored paper to make the stocking look colorful and creative. You can put tiny stick-on bows or ribbon on them and even notes from Santa.

There are many themes you can select from. Here are some ideas that will be popular, some with girls and some with boys, and others with either a girl or a boy! The best idea for the perfect theme is that it should be something that your child enjoys doing all the time, their favorite hobby or their favorite thing. Christmas is the perfect time to really treat everyone in your family, especially your children.

Cars. V-rrooom! Most little boys (and bigger ones) love cars. A fun Christmas stocking would be centered on cars. You can get them miniature toy cars or even a remote control car for their Christmas stocking. Perhaps even a flip book of pictures of antique or collectable cars. There are many items offered by some of the popular cars, such as Porsche like caps, key chains or t-shirts that could make great Christmas stocking items.

Dress Up. What little girl doesn't want to look pretty? This is a fun Christmas stocking to do for your little girl who is a bit of a glamour girl. Fill their Christmas stocking with inexpensive lipsticks and jingly bracelets and necklaces that they can play dress up with. A pair of rhinestone studded sunglasses would be perfect for the movie star look. You could also include a disposable camera to take some pictures of your favorite glamour girl in her new looks.

Animals. Most children love animals. A Christmas stocking focused on animals could focus on one type of animal or on lots of different types of animals. You can find many collectable items at your local zoo or aquarium that would be perfect for a Christmas stocking. Postcards of animals are a great addition. So are small stuffed animals of unique animals that children don't see every day. You could get a children's book filled with facts about animals that would be a great addition to a Christmas stocking about animals.

Magic Tricks. This is a fun Christmas stocking for an older child. Magic tricks take some practice to master, but they are clever and unique and fun to perform for family and friends. You can find many magic tricks online or at your local mall. Many of these fit into the palm of your hand, such as the disappearing coin trick or the scarf trick. What is especially fun about this stocking is the time that you can spend with your child helping them to learn the tricks and then watching them perform them.

Sweets and Goodies. If your child loves candy and sweets (what child doesn't?) perhaps a stocking that features some small samples of unique candies would be a fun Christmas stocking. Try a large candy store and look for samples of imported candies or candies that are unique shapes and styles. This doesn't have to be large quantities of sweets - and probably shouldn't as that would be likely to cause a tummy ache. But it would be fun to try six or so different types of sweets that your child hasn't seen before. Include a large sweet orange in the toe of the stocking.

Old Fashioned Games. There are many old fashioned games that children still like to play once they have learned them. These can be fun to play with grandparents, who remember these games from when their children played them. Jacks, Old Maid, Gin Rummy, Hearts, and Jacob's Ladder are all old fashioned games that your child could have fun playing with this Christmastime.

Crafts. If your child enjoys doing crafts then a stocking that focuses on creative projects could be a lot of fun for them. Include some iron-ons or jewelry-making to make something to wear. Another fun project could be to make some Christmas ornaments. You can find many small kits for projects ready to go at your larger craft stores.
