If you're a fan of spinning rides like I am, one of your favorites is probably the Tilt-A-Whirl. Here are three unique Tilt-A-Whirl rides that are worth a road trip. Each custom themed Tilt-A-Whirl was made by Sellner Manufacturing, the company that invented the popular amusement park ride over eighty years ago.

Mardi Gras Tilt-A-Whirl, City Park, New Orleans

You can experience the dizzying fun of Mardi Gras without downing a single Hurricane on this one-of-a-kind Tilt-A-Whirl, bought by City Park in 2007 to replace their original, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Done up in purple, gold and green, the official Mardi Gras colors, this Tilt-A-Whirl, located in the park's Carousel Gardens, is a festive local twist on the classic amusement park ride. Next time you're in the Big Easy, take a ride on City Park's Mardi Gras themed Tilt-A-Whirl and laissez bon temps rouler!

Turkey Whirl Tilt-A-Whirl, Holiday World, Santa Claus, Indiana

It's Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas, all year round at Holiday World. That's why the turkeys are always in a tizzy on the Turkey Whirl, the amusement park's exclusive themed Tilt-A-Whirl ride. Holding up to six passengers per car, the birds twirl alongside the Plymouth Rock Café, where you can eat a full Thanksgiving feast every night of the week. Do yourself and your fellow riders a favor . Follow the advice on Holiday World's Web site: ride the Turkey Whirl before you eat dinner, not after!

Turtle Twirl Tilt-A-Whirl, Storybook Land, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey

Children love to ride the smiling reptiles on this unique Tilt-A-Whirl in Southern New Jersey. The Turtle Twirl is one of thirteen amusement park rides in Storybook Land, a kiddie paradise that's only ten miles away from the grown up amusements of Atlantic City. Parents and older siblings: don't let the ride's cute quotient fool you. The Turtle Twirl offers some serious spins for the whole family.

The traveling carnival that comes through your town each year is bound to have a Tilt-A-Whirl in tow, but if you 're looking for something that's a little out of the ordinary, why not make the trip to New Orleans, Santa Claus or Egg Harbor Township and take a spin on one of these unique rides? No matter what color or design, the Tilt-A-Whirl remains one of America's most beloved amusement park attractions, delighting riders for nearly a century.
