Unique Travel Destinations in South America

South America is the southern continent of the Americas situated entirely in the Western Hemisphere and mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. South America occupies the minor southern portion of the landmass generally referred to as the New World. South American continent has a population of about three hundred and eighty million people. On South American continent there are many well known countries that are large and with a big population, for example countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. However, in South America , there are also some small and less known countries, for example countries like Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana and Paraguay. All of those countries have a very small population, especially Guyana and Suriname with a population of less than one million people.

Republic of Paraguay is landlocked nation located next to Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. The population of Paraguay is about seven million people. The official languages of the Republic of Paraguay are Spanish and Guarani. The currency of the Republic of Paraguay is Paraguayan guarani. Most of the economy of the country is based on agriculture. However tourism still plays an important role on the economy of the republic. The capital of the Republic of Paraguay is called Asuncion. The population of the city Asuncion is about one million people. In Paraguay there are a lot of various historical buildings and churches. Beautiful nature and diverse wildlife attract a lot of tourist also. Over all the Republic of Paraguay is a great vacation destination with historical architecture and unique cuisine, wildlife and nature.

Republic of Suriname is a very small country located in northern South America. Suriname is situated between French Guiana to the east and Guyana to the west. The southern border is shared with Brazil and the northern border is the Atlantic coast. The population of Suriname is about five hundred thousand people. The official language of the Republic of Suriname is Dutch. The currency of the Republic of Suriname is Surinamese dollar. Most of the economy of the country is based on agriculture. However tourism still plays an important role on the economy of the republic. The capital of the Republic of Suriname is called Paramaribo. The population of the city Paramaribo is about two hundred and fifty thousand people, which is about half of the population of the whole country. Most tourists visit Suriname for the outstanding biodiversity of the pristine Amazonian rainforests in the south of the country, which are noted for their nature and wildlife. Historical architecture and unique cuisine attract a lot of tourist also. Over all the Republic of Suriname is a great vacation destination with unique wildlife, great cuisine and very beautiful nature.

Eastern Republic of Uruguay is a country located in the southeastern part of South America. The population of Uruguay is about three and a half million people. The official language of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is Spanish. The currency of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is Uruguayan peso. Most of the economy of the country is based on agriculture. However tourism still plays an important role on the economy of the republic. The capital of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is called Montevideo. The population of the city Montevideo is about one million and three hundred thousand people, which is about one third of the population of the whole country. In Uruguay there are a lot of historical buildings, unique museums, resorts and other buildings with unique architecture. A lot of luxury and very unique resorts next to the beaches attract a lot of tourists also. Over all the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is a great vacation destination with great nature, tasty cuisine and very unique architecture.

Co-operative Republic of Guyana is a small country located in South America. Guyana is located on the northern coast of the South American continent and is bordered by Suriname, Brazil and Venezuela. The population of Guyana is about nine hundred thousand people. The official language of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana is English. The currency of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana is Guyanese dollar. Most of the economy of the country is based on agriculture. However tourism still plays an important role on the economy of the republic. The capital of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana is called Georgetown. The population of the city Georgetown is about two hundred and fifty thousand people, which is about on forth of the population of the whole country. Guyana has over seventy percent of the natural habitat remained pristine. More than eighty percent of Guyana is still covered by forests, ranging from dry evergreen and seasonal forests to montane and lowland evergreen rain forests. Approximately eight thousand species of plants occur in Guyana, half of which are found nowhere else. With thousand of various species of birds and mammals, of which majority are endemic, Guyana is a perfect tourist destination to people that love nature and wildlife. Over all Co-operative Republic of Guyana is a great vacation destination with great cuisine, beautiful nature and a very unique wildlife.

South American continent is a very unique place. South American countries are blessed with beautiful nature, unique wildlife and great cuisine. That's probably why so many South American countries are popular travel destinations to millions of people from all over the world. However, unfortunately not so many people know of small South American countries like Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana and Paraguay. After all, those four South American countries have got probably the most spectacular land in the whole South American continent. Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana and Paraguay are definitely great alternatives to more famous South American travel destinations like Brazil or Argentina and probably will become more and more famous in the future. However, in the mean time Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana and Paraguay are still unique travel destinations.
