Unique Ways for Your Teen to Make Money

Do you have a teen that is talented and ready to work, but doesn't want to flip burgers for a living? Most of today's teens have talents that go beyond typical entry-level jobs geared at teenagers, have your teen utilize these skills to pass up the initiation into the hamburger hall of fame. Talking with your teen about the several options such as computer jobs, starting a business and internships if they want to start something different and already think outside the box.

If your teen is well versed in building websites, making videos online and social networking these are skills that are sought after widely by dot com companies. It is very rare that a company will hire someone under eighteen to work with them, but taking gigs and being self employed is the next best thing. Marketing online is always a challenge for a website owner, and if your teen is able to communicate well with others online, they are a great asset for a company who markets to teens.

Your teen has the opportunity to start his or her own business, if they are interested in being a business owner at a young age. Teens can usually successfully balance a business and school well, because they can set their own hours and still work part-time. If your teen has a great idea, or is an inventor have them start with a business license and an idea to see what comes of it. Keep them motivated and help them research when you are needed, support of their parents will help ease the stress of starting a business.

Do you have a teen who likes to write, market or is into fashion. Call companies and have your teen introduced as a part-time intern or volunteer. Let them learn the ways of a company and all it has to offer with the hopes of a potential job in the end (this isn't unusual). If it is something they are interested in, many companies are glad to host a teen for the summer months so they can gain experience to put on their resume.

Help your child think out of the box by offering ideas to help them achieve what they want to do and not what everyone else their age is doing. There are many talented teenagers who are self educated in areas that have many jobs, encourage them to utilize these skills as a job.
