One very special way to let your husband know that you will be cradling a little on in 9 months is to go out and buy the tiniest socks you can find. You could use any article of clothing, but socks are perfect because they are small and easy to hide. Slip them into his pants pocket or his briefcase before he goes to work in the morning. Depending on how observant your partner is, you should get a call within a couple of hours!
Serve him a "baby" dinner. Make baby squash, fried baby potatoes, baby shrimp or lamb and a salad with baby carrots and baby greens. Guys can be pretty dense sometimes, so only do this if you figure your loved one will get it! Of course, you could just leave the pregnancy test in the middle of the table during dinner, too.
Give him a Father's Day card. It might take him a minute to realize exactly what it means, but when he does, he'll be thrilled!
Go to BabyCenter.com and find a graphic of what your baby looks like right now, at this stage of pregnancy. Print the picture, but leave it in the printer. This only works if your husband uses the printer frequently. If he doesn't, you might tuck the photo into one of his magazines or leave it lying around carelessly.
Search EBay for baby items, preferably bigger things like cribs or strollers. Now, leave the page up when he goes to use the computer. He will probably ask why you were looking at baby things and you can spring the news on him.
Buy him a Dad T-shirt or mug and present it to him when he wakes up in the morning. It will take a while to sink in that he is going to be a dad, especially if he wakes up slowly. Alternatively, you could just serve him his morning coffee in a new Dad mug!
Wrap the positive pregnancy test up in wrapping paper and give it to him as a gift. Imagine the look on his face when he realizes what the real gift is! If you didn't do a home pregnancy test, you can do the same with the papers from the doctor.
A new pregnancy is a special event and should be celebrated. What better way to enjoy these first moments as parents-to-be than by surprising your husband with the news that he is about to be a father?
