One great reason why I prefer living in Ogden are the winter activities. For me, I almost failed high school because I went skiing at Tahoe so much, but now the ski resorts are just 20 minutes from my house.
Enough of me, but I wish to tell you about some fun winter activities you can do with the family in Ogden Utah. Of course there is skiing at Wolf Mountain, and Powder Mountain Ski resorts. I prefer to ski at Wolf Mountain because it is cheap, and it has a great snow park for me to practice doing tricks.
If you are looking for a resort to just ski down many slopes, then Powder Mountain is a great place to go.
If you are looking to go snow mobiling, I would recommend you to go to a little town called Mantua. This town is up the canyon east of Brigham City. Get off the first exit and drive until the end of the road. take a left and follow the road about 1.5 miles until you see a big parking lot on the left hand side. Park there and take your snow mobiles further south on that road. It is a nice fun place to go to for snow mobiles in the winter and dirt biking in the summer.
Another fun winter activity that I enjoy is going on a hike with snow shoes. If you head up the Ogden Canyon on 12th street heading east. Drive up that canyon until you reach the dam. About 100 feet before the dam, you will see a parking lot to your right and there is a nice trail head that goes on for mile. I have hiked it before in the winter and it is very nice and not that hard.
If you don't wish to take much of a drive up that canyon, you can also take your snow shoes or cross country skis on the Bonneville Shore Line Tail. This trail is long and seems like it has more than enough snow you you to use this equipment on.
I heard a rumor about a water fall behind Weber state that does ice climbing, but I am not entireley sure about it. But if you are into ice climbing, I would recommend you to look into that.
One of my most favorite things that I do enjoy doing in Ogden this winter is tubing. The best hills that I have been on are the ones just above the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I would recommend you to always supervise your kids up there, but I have always had a blast up in those hills.
I hope this helps you with your winter activities and enjoy beautiful Ogden.
