Not all Post offices are created equally. East Moriches has one of the nicest Post Offices I have ever been to. It is as if you stepped into small town USA. When I first moved to East Moriches, I had no idea where the post office was. I knew that if I put my letters in my home mailbox, the postal carrier would pick them up and mail them for me. What a concept coming from a city girl. I had never heard of this before. I was always so used to mailing my letters in an old-fashioned mailbox located on your street corner. When I loved out to long island with my husband, I asked him where all of the mailboxes were. He said you don't need them, you just put your letters in your home mailbox.

Well, this was all fine until I needed to buy stamps. I went onto the internet and located the closest Post Office to my new house. To my surprise, it only took me 5 minutes to get there. I did notice that there wasn't a lot of parking outside the Post Office. There are only five parking spots. Luckily, it wasn't crowded so I just pulled right in to an open parking spot. I had my two year old son with me and was extremely nervous that he was going to start acting up.

As soon as I walked into the Post Office, I was pleasantly surprised. There were no glass partitions up at the counter. I am so used to the city Post Offices where you have the glass separating you. The man behind the counter was so friendly. He even talked to my son a little to help keep him calm. I bought my stamps and didn't worry that my son was bolting out the door. He was so preoccupied with the all the stuff they sell that he was an angel. I even bought him a little mail carrier truck as a reward for being so good. The toy truck cost me $5.00 but it was worth it. He plays with that little truck almost everyday.

The East Moriches Post Office also has postal boxes you can purchase. They had a nice size lobby you can wait in too. Fortunately, there was no wait when I went and was able to be in and out in less than 10 minutes. The only thing that I do have to say about this Post Office is that it would be helpful if they had more parking spots available. Since that day, I have had to go back for one reason or another and have had to struggle with the parking situation. I still had a great experience once I was inside though.

Who knew you could have such a pleasant experience going to your local Post Office? If you live near the East Moriches Post Office, I would highly suggest doing your postal business there.
