Unitil CEO received a $300,000 bonus for the way he handled the ice storm that ravaged Fitchburg, Lunenburg and many other cities and towns. This bonus is in reward for the quick action and concern that Unitil had shown to everyone during the 2 weeks to a month that they were without power.
Also, to show their appreciation for being brave enough to raise everyone's utility bills to $300 and $600 for a standard residence, and getting the state to look the other way.
I wonder what the govenor and MA Department of Telecommunications received for looking the other way and not doing a proper investigation? Must have been a pretty decent sum of money to let a large number of cities and towns be without power for so long and then punished by Unitil for it.

I live in a 4 room apartment and during the winter I close of two of the rooms. Me and my son sleep in the livingroom together in order to conserve energy We wake up cold and we go to bed cold. My son this year has had pneumonia and many other virises while the power was on and off during December, January and Febuary. We keep only the livingroom and the kitchen heated. Still my bills are over $300 a month. Where as a friend of mine in Worcester, MA pays only a combined of about $50 a month for a 4 room apartment with three times the appliances and no closed off rooms.

The state of MA is looking the other way on the gauging that Unitil is illegally doing to its monopolized customers. People in this city cannot afford $300 a month for a electric bill for an apartment. Though is you are unlucky enough to have a house you are paying $600 a month. Why is the state looking the other way? Why dont they are about what has happend and what this company continues to do to people in the territories they monopolize? Why are they allowed to monopolize?

I think the answer is very simple? That extra $250-$550 that we are all paying is going to keep the decision makers very warm this year in their second homes at the Cape and in Maine. Can no one see what has been happening tor the past few years in MA? It makes me sad to think that there is nothing that can be done or will be done about Unitil and I now have to try and find a job that pays me $300 more a month so I can keep my lights on.
