Universal Pictures Paul and Chris Weitz Film 'American Reunion' Aka 'American Pie 4' Auditions

Alan Baltes
The upcoming feature film "American Reunion," which is the fourth film in the "American Pie" series is in pre-production and casting is underway. Although nearly the entire original cast will reprise their roles, there are at least five new co-starring and supporting roles for "American Reunion".

There have been four "American Pie Presents" direct-to-DVD Universal Home Entertainment videos, however these are American Pie spinoff movies, not prequels or sequels. Paul and Chris Weitz were not attached in any way with these videos, but they are indeed executive producers of "American Reunion", which is being called part-sequel, part-reboot.

Universal Pictures released the first film in the "American Pie" franchise on July 9, 1999, and it quickly became a worldwide pop culture sensation, bringing forth two prompt sequels. The original three films in the series were produced on a total combined budget of $95 million, and ended up grossing over 3/4 of a billion dollars worldwide.
