Universal Studios Plans a Harry Potter Theme Park

A Dream for Potter Fans

Rachel Bogart
It has been settled, after being in the works ever since early 2005, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida has set a plan into action to finally build a Harry Potter theme park on the grounds of Universal Studios. This could be every Harry Potter fan's dream becoming a reality, and perhaps for parents too. Back in 2005, Disney was debating whether or not they should create a Harry Potter theme park in Singapore, not the United States. Disney was in negotiations with both J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers to get the project into play. However, those negotiations led to the current situations today with Warners Bros building the Harry Potter theme park in Florida on Universal Studios ground. The deal is now set and ready to be put into action. Right now the final terms are being written out and legalized before building and hiring workers can begin.

The theme park wouldn't just be just a few rides with the Harry Potter theme, it would most likely be an entire Harry Potter world for parents and kids to enjoy. Restaurants, stores, even a hotel with the Harry Potter theme are what is expected to be on the way. You could eat at the Leaky Cauldron Pub, play Quidditch, and even spend the night at Hogwarts in the Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff houses.

Universal Studios hopes that it would boost its revenue even more with the Harry Potter theme park since the books have sold more than 325 million copies all over the world in over 60 languages. The fifth of seven Harry Potter movies, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', is set for its release this mid July. The filming of the remaining two movies will happen soon. This will only boost the popularity behind the idea of building a Harry Potter theme park for visitors and tourists to enjoy. There has also been talk about J.K. Rowling making money off the theme park as well, only adding to her Harry Potter income. Universal also believes that the theme park will keep making money long after the movies and books have finished rolling.

As someone who has been reading Harry Potter since I was in middle school, this for me is the unltimate fans dream come true. You can bet that I will be one of the ones staying in griffindor tower. I hope they have a great hall, it would probably be expensive to eat in, but soo worth it. I can't wait to see what butterbeer tastes like. Although I have been reading since I was a child, I don't only believe this is a childs dream, I am now 21 and still can't get enough of Harry Potter. THis will be a way to keep it going, even though the books have now ceased.
