The University of Kentucky Wildcats and University of Louisville Cardinals' football schedules were included in a special section of The Courier Journal on Sunday, August 30, 2009. Included with the schedules were the predictions by two of our local sports writers on the outcome of each game for each team. As a sports fan I thought it would be interesting to review some of these predictions and see just how close our sports writers are as the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville games unfold this season.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats Football Schedule and Predictions

The Cats will be led by Coach Rich Brooks who is in his 7th season. His protégé and successor, Joker Phillips (offensive head coach and wide receivers coach), will take Brook's place when Brooks decides to retire. UK fans are excited about the upcoming season as Kentucky has had three straight bowl wins, 14 straight nonconference wins, and 23 wins over the past three seasons.

The following is a schedule for the Wildcats and the predicted scores for each game by Brett Dawson, UK Beat Writer for the Courier.

The University of Louisville Cardinals Football Schedule and Predictions

Coach Steve Kragthorpe is under some pressure. It's his third year at U of L and his record is 11-13 with no bowl game appearances. Kragthorpe has been on the hot seat for a while now, but anyone following in Bobby Petrino's footsteps is going to have a tough time. Many folks in town say that Kragthorpe inherited a team with disciplinary issues and outgoing talent when Petrino left, while others ignore that and are demanding answers (well, wins) now.

The following is the schedule for the University of Louisville Cardinals and the predicted scores for each game by C. L. Brown of the Courier Journal.

Date/Time/Opponent Predicted Outcome

September 5, 7:30 - Indiana State UL 40-14

September 19, Noon - at Kentucky UK 21-17

September 26, 7:30 - at Utah Utah 28-10
