University of Chicago Law Professor Posts Finances Online (I Swear)

My momma used to say, "He's got book learnin', but he ain't got a lick-a-sense." And I would say that my momma was right if you're talking about University of Chicago, corporate law professor, Todd Henderson.

It seems that the fiscally conservative, Professor Henderson, in a good faith effort to point out that even those considered wealthy by the Obama administration are struggling to make financial ends meet too, posted his financial position online in a blog for all the world to see.

In the blog, Professor Henderson said that he and his wife, a physician, had paid over $100,000 in federal income and property taxes last year. And though it may "appear" they are rich, said Professor Henderson, with an annual income of over $250,000 per year, they are in fact, struggling financially like the rest of America.

I would say that Professor Henderson's momentary lapse in better judgment is akin to an over-indulged, over-paid and highly privileged celebrity complaining about how hard fame, money and celebrity are. While I will concede that it probably is, most Americans, like the remaining percentage below that tiny sliver at the top, called celebrities and the 2% who are considered wealthy, have a really hard time caring.

What the good professor failed to see is that his definition of a tough time is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or winning the freakin' lottery for most other Americans. You know, like the ones who are standing in unemployment lines?

Professor Henderson has since removed the numb-scull blog post due to the unfortunate consequence of his family now receiving death threats. I can't say that I blame him. Perhaps now, in the future, Professor Henderson will put some of the high-falutin' book learnin' to use and "think before he posts."

You can also be certain that I will not be calling on the good professor for any legal advice any time soon either.
