University of Florida QB Tim Tebow, Out of the Swamp, into the NFL

Vonda Menard
Tim Tebow was recently criticized for crying after his Florida Gators lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. Losing not only a game, but a chance at the National Championship during your senior year, is tough, so we should cut the young QB some slack. While he fell short of his goal of leaving Florida as a Champion, Tebow's college career has nonetheless been spectacular.

College football fans were fortunate to have Tebow return for his final year. While his numbers this year, 2,413 yards, 31 total touchdowns, and a 155.59 QB rating, represent career lows, they are still impressive. In addition to leading the Gators to a one loss season, Tebow's shown continued leadership and undeniable toughness. During Florida's game against Kentucky, the QB went down after a vicious hit in the third quarter, leaving you to wonder, if his college career would come to a tragic, unexpected end. Fortunately, Tebow would recover.

Whether you're a Tebow fan or not, it's hard not to see, this is a special young man. He spends his free time doing volunteer work with his father's ministry, in Southeast Asia. He also happens to be a very good quarterback, who enjoyed playing quarterback for the University of Florida so much, he postponed his NFL career to return for his senior year, when he could of rode of into the NFL sunset after winning the National Title last year.

Tim Tebow will enter the NFL next year. He'll go to the combine, get measured, weighed, tested, and graded. Tebow won't be the biggest, fastest, or strongest quarterback in the draft. Teams will pass on him, and another quarterback will hear his name called first. What won't be measured during Tebow's journey to the NFL, are his intangibles. The NFL team that does draft Tim Tebow, will get a player who loves the game of football, and will bust his butt to help the team, and organization succeed.

Tim Tebow returned to the swamp to lead the University of Florida to another National Championship, he failed in that mission, but his college career was far from a failure. Tim Tebow gave the University of Florida all he had, and he leaves, ready to do the same in the NFL.
