University of North Florida (UNF): Off-Campus Housing Options Available for Students

Exploring Some of the Best Zip Codes and Neighborhoods to Consider when Relocating to the Area

While the University of North Florida offers on-campus housing, many students prefer to live in off-campus housing near the university or their job. When looking for rental properties, a good start is to decide on location. The beaches and ICW areas are great locations for school proximity, abundance of jobs, and fun nightlife. These areas are defined by zip codes 32224 and 32225. Of the beaches areas, Ponte Vedra Beach is the nicest area for students due to many miles of sidewalks, which is perfect for running and walking. In addition, there is also a library in the center of the area, and hotels for family members who wish to visit.

If wishing to make this area your off-campus housing destination, compare rates on rental condos, as many are less expensive than apartments. Often times on Craigslist, a two bedroom rental condo will be listed for under $1000 per month. While this option is perfect for those that already have a roommate, there are other options available for students who wish to live off-campus, but are in needed of roommates.

The Melrose Student Suites are apartment communities designed for students who are interested in having a lower-priced, off-campus apartment without having the hassle of having to recruit and retain roommates. They are located about 10 minutes from the University of North Florida, and come in both furnished and unfurnished models. Two, three, and four bedroom units are available, which help students select pricing and living options that are best suited to their needs. The Melrose Student Suites also offer discounts to students who volunteer, are on the Dean's List, hold down a part-time job, and are involved with campus activities.

Now matter where you decide to live for off-campus housing, it is important to fully investigate the background of the community you are considering. A great site to do this is Apartment Reviews.net . Here, you can see what other consumers have to say about management, maintenance, noise, safety, and security. Apartments are searchable by name, city, or zip code.

When an off-campus housing location is finally chosen, be sure to ask about any discounts or monthly specials when inquiring about units. Sometimes, when there is more of one type of apartment available, and a shortage of another, the one in abundance can be rented at a significant savings. Also, be sure to give yourself ample time to search for your off-campus housing, as sometimes rental communities have wait lists. With patience and persistence, finding an off-campus housing location while attending the University of North Florida can be a stress-free experience.
