I am getting ready for the fall semester at DePaul University. Everything that happened when I was eight years old keeps playing over and over again. My sister has been married for twelve years now. They moved to Wisconsin for ten months and I did not want to join them. I decided to stay with my aunt and go to school in Chicago because I am still frightful of what I saw twelve years ago. Anyway, life has been very busy for me and I haven't really talked to anyone lately. I contacted Natasha Jones who is my best and closes friend. I have known her since I was in the sixth grade, and she has been a great friend to me. However, I didn't have anytime to talk to her until now. I miss her so much. I can picture her face now her Asian slanted eyes and beautiful shiny black long her that she wears down around her slim shoulders.
"Hey. Kannitha! I haven't heard from you in a while. So what's going on?"
"Nothing much...I am trying to get situated for school which starts tomorrow. Do you have a cell number where I can reach you?" hoping she will not mention how anything about me not calling her.
"Sure. Don't Forget to call me and if you need anything please call" she emphasized. "Don't wait two years to past to call me or visit me or better yet, you can meet me at Starbucks Friday so we can hangout. So can you meet on Friday? I would like you to meet the guy I am dating. His name is Cass," she said euphorically.
"You met another guy? But you have just met another one just a year ago." I said confused. Natasha and I live completely different lives. Sometimes I believe we are two different types of breeds however I she is still my girl but needs much work.
"So are you coming?"
"Sure. I'll be there," I said with assurance and somewhat disappointed that she didn't last with the other guy. Natasha and Greg seemed to hit it off the last time I spoke to her. However, maybe this one is the one she is looking for.
"Okay... See you soon. Bye." She hangs up.
