Unlocking Bass Pro Shop's RedHead Gun Safe

Steps to Unlock the RedHead Gun Safes, Produced for Bass Pro Shops

Jessie Kay
Sold exclusively at Bass Pro Shops, the national sporting goods retailer, RedHead gun safes offer protection and a safe storage spot for your firearms. RedHead gun safes are fireproof and can store other valuables such as jewelry and artwork. There are two types of RedHead gun safes: those with an electronic (or "keypad") lock and those with a traditional, combination dial type lock. I'll show you how to unlock each types of RedHead gun safes in this article.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe with an Electronic (or "keypad") type lock

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 1: Input your password by punching the corresponding numbers on the gun safe's keypad. This keypad is located on the front door of the gun safe, in the center.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 2: Rotate the wheel clockwise until you complete a full, 360-degree revolution. The wheel is located directly below the electronic keypad on the gun safe's door.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 3: Open the door by grasping the wheel and pulling it towards you. This opens the gun safe and allows you access to your firearms and valuables.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe with an Combination Dial type of lock

This type of RedHead gun safe's lock functions like a traditional padlock. The combination dial is located on the gun safe's front door.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 1: Spin the dial around until the '0' is located right under the red arrow.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 2: Going clockwise, rotate the combination dial until your combination's first digit sits below the arrow.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 3: Turn the dial again, this time going counterclockwise, and stop under the arrow when the second number of your combination is below the arrow.

Unlock a RedHead Gun Safe Step 4: Finally, spin the dial around clockwise until your third number sits below the arrow. Grab the door handle and tug, until the gun safe opens.

What if this doesn't work? How do I unlock the safe?

You'll need to call a locksmith in order to open your RedHead gun safe. RedHead does not have any method of opening the safe if you don't have the correct combination. Additionally, if you try too many incorrect passwords, the safe will beep for several minutes.

In addition to offering a line of gun safes, RedHead also manufactures hunting decoy, shoes, outerwear, shotgun accessories and optics. Because RedHead is a Bass Pro Shops exclusive product line, RedHead gun safes can only be purchased at a Bass Pro Shop store or online via the store's website.

Always remember to lock up your firearms in a safe, regardless if you're a RedHead gun safe owner or not. You certainly don't need an accident with your guns falling into the wrong hands.

I have a Red Head safe with the traditional lock. I have the numbers for the combination but can't remember how many times to turn the dial and the combination is 4 numbers. Can anyone help me? The dial has a white mark at the top and then over about 1/4" to the left there is another white mark. Help me if you can please. My husband wants to get in and can't.
    Thanks

I bought a red head safe in 2008. Electronic lock only. Because it was a floor model, the manual was not provided. The combination is the standard 123456# to open it. How do I change the combination?

How do you change the battery? It beeped rapidly upon putting in my combination and I assume that means the battery needs to be replaced.
