Unlocking the Motorola V3 Razr

Chris Jones
You will need a USBcable, a p2k program (such as p2k tools or p2kman), RSD Lite (a flashing program), some bootloader files (which I will provide links for), and a Motorola Unlocker software.

A usb cable can usually be purchased on ebay for a few bucks. I have even seen ones that are under $1 with free shipping. So definitely try those out. (I would suggest searching for "usb charger razr")

As for the softwares and files:

1. P2kman can be found at http://www.planetmotox.net/motox101/seem_editing.htm

2. RSD Lite can be found at http://modmymoto.com/wiki/index.php/Razr_v3_flashing_flexing (on the website in the downloads section)

3. Bootloader files found at http://www.poeticfolly.com/motoguide/gurus/unlockit/bl_826-828_to_07d0_for_V3_by_Archy.V2.shx

4. And the Motorola Unlocker software is at http://www.poeticfolly.com/motoguide/gurus/unlockit/Motorola_Unlocker_2005.zip

Now that we have all our equipment, the first thing to unlocking your Motorola v3 Razr is to confirm that it is a v3 model. There are many variations of the Motorola Razr, such as the v3r and v3i. You must make sure that you have the original v3 because this method only works with that razr. To do this, you need to plug the phone into the computer via the USB cable and run the p2k program, P2kman. It will identify the model of the phone for you.

Once you have confirmed that you have a Motorola v3 Razr, then you can continue on with the unlocking. You will need to press hold # and * and press power at the same time. This will set the phone into bootloader mode. Afterwards, you need to use to flash the bootloader file (#3) to your phone with the RSD Lite program! Follow the guide at the link I have provided: http://modmymoto.com/wiki/index.php/Razr_v3_flashing_flexing.

After completing the flashing and downgrading your bootloader to the 07D0 version, you can continue with the unlocking process. The most important thing is downgrading your bootloader to 07D0 version. By doing so you can simply run the Motorola Unlocker program. Once you run the program, just click Connect. A dialog box will pop up and click Yes. This will automatically start the unlocking process. This should only take about 10 seconds or so.

When the program finishes unlocking your Motorola v3 Razr, all you need to do is restart your phone. I would say the easiest way is to just take the battery out and put it back in and power on again.

So there you have it. It is the easiest way to unlock your Motorola v3 Razr for free (or at very little cost) and you can do it in the comfort of your home.
