Unnamed Fragment

Patrick W. Marsh
The flaming fire bursting wide,
taken by the coral tide.
Thrown over the sandy dunes of drear,
cast upon the mountain fear.
Where it rains the blackened night,
on the clouds of thunder might
Where the dragon is far beneath the cave,
fire bristling the gathering wave.
The dragon stretches its diamond wings,
and turn its eyes around in emerald rings.
Storming outside the cave the hunter,
sharpening his spear with the wonder.
If spear fly true and quick tonight,
he will see the whirling light.
Pour through the dragon breast,
and bring eternity to a rest.

So the hunter waits atop the stone ridge
his spear so sharp beyond the honed.
Waiting to slay our diamond dragon,
feel its blood was him over.
Wash away all failure he holds
In his aging shell.

Vanishing his life of waste,
and no longer make him feel
Eternity chased.
