Unreachable Dream

A dream is but an unreachable star
So close within grasp, yet so far
Sparkling above
Opening inviting arms;
Running, running, running
A closed door stands in the way
I try to open it
But it is locked tight
Not stirring, not budging;
Emptiness lies here
A pool of gold lies there
Awaiting the lucky one
Able to reach so high
Able to take hold of the smiles,
The laughter, the happiness;
Tears have gazed upon the light
Hoping, wishing, wondering
Yet they have been wiped away
By a violent touch;
Hiding the pain
Not allowing a glance inside the heart
A heart full of sorrow
A heart so longing for that unreachable star,
That unreachable dream that mades its way
Into every corner of my life
Pounding upon my very sanity
Existing as the black cloud
Enclosing the smiling sun behind
Raining upon all that is green
And leaving only cold greyness;
No longer a light within my life
All because of a dream,
An unreachable dream
