And chills me to the bone,
Another day of loneliness
And facing the unknown.
Behind this frozen smiling mask
Bemoans a weary soul,
Beguiled by deceitful lust and
Befriended by injustice.
Caught in a world of hypocrisy
Cancels out my thoughts,
Christians preach their love, but
Cynicism abounds.
Distrust of humankind
Distracts from Christ alone,
Distinct voices fill my ears,
Dousing His call home.
Every place I go,
Every way I turn,
Every face I meet,
Expresses defeat.
Friends, try not to despair
For the war rages on,
Forces yet unseen
Face foes in realms unknown.
Glorify the King!
Give praise to His name!
Grace and mercy be upon us,
Guiding hearts onward home.
Hear me, mankind
Humans all around the world,
His name will be glorified
His Kingdom and His throne.
I should spread this news
I should tell all those I see,
Instead, I hide behind my smiling mask
Insecurity fills me.
Jealousy, envy, maliciousness,
Jade my worldview,
Judging eyes gaze my way with their
Jaundiced attitudes.
Knowledge of His word exposes a
Kaleidoscope of worldly wrongs,
Knowing of His Son's return
Keeps my faith strong.
Longing yearnings of a heavenly eternity
Linger inside my soul,
Life is more than this world alone
Listen, for you too will know.
Many will hear this call,
Many will reject His plea,
My house and I will worship
My heart doesn't belong to me.
No one can ever steal my faith
No matter how hard they try,
No other could take His place
No, not even I.
Open up your hearts and see
Opposing points of view,
Others want to dam up this love
Offered from Him above
Protecting my heart from these foes
Protects my soul in earnest,
Projecting out His love to others
Problematic for me, it seems.
Quintessential love is what I should provide
Quickly to those in need,
Quiet words would answer
Questions about his mercy.
Respect for others should be my first nature,
Relying on His words,
Resentful, hardened hearts
Requires special concentration.
Sinful nature can be overwhelming
Since I am but a woman,
Slashing tongue often prevail instead of
Subservient Christian love.
Today is always the perfect day
To exude Christ's love,
Too bad, I don't take my own advice
To witness to the lost.
Umbrellas of suspicion remain over me as my
Unbridled tongue thrashes carelessly,
Uncaring whom it hurts and
Unyielding in its pain.
Venom spewed upon those nearby looking for
Vindicating freedom,
Vilifies His love and a
Vision of sin's freedom remains unseen.
Who am I to steal their chance at
Witnessing God's eternal love?
Why do I justify the misery of the
Weak, wounded and alone?
X-ray my heart to show it beating true and
X-ray my soul, as proof of Christ living there,
Xerocopy my intent-not my actions as a
Xenodochium for a stranger's welfare.
Youthful ignorance soon
Yields to wisdom of the King,
Yearnings for the Father's love and a light
Yoke more than satisfies.
Zealous fools hear my cry and
Zip your prideful ways,
Zero is not the number to strive for because
Zion awaits.
