Whether you are looking to honor your wife, your mother, your grandmother, or if you are a husband looking to help your children stage a great gift for their Mommy, here are a few unique Mothers day gifts to choose from. These unique gifts can be eaten.

Instead of sending flowers consider sending or making an edible bouquet of flowers. This creative arrangement is both beautiful and delicious. It fits all lifestyles and even works for the diabetic or diet sensitive mother. I have personally had several of these. The fruit is created on skewers and contains bright color patterns that stand out and look great. Each time I have had the pleasure of sharing one of these bouquets everyone, children and adults, have gathered around to receive a edible flower from the bouquet. The fruit is fresh, cold and delicious. Check out this site for more details: http://www.ediblearrangements.com . They have stores internationally as well as across the US.

Here are some details of what you need to create your own personal fruit bouquet:
(You should be able to make two arrangements with this fruit)

Fresh Washed and Prepared Fruit:
1 large fresh pineapple (Sliced 1/2 inch thick/do not core or remove the outer green edge)
2 pounds of strawberries
1 cantaloupe
1 Mellon
2 pounds purple grapes

Supplies You Will Need (Most of these you already have at home):
Flower Cookie Cutter (Can be found at most craft stores such as A.C. Moore)
Watermelon baller (Size of a regular spoon with a small ball shaped scoop at the end)
Bamboo Skewers
A knife
Scissors (Clean Kitchen scissors not craft scissors)
A vase of your choice (Look in your storage area. You probably have several to choose from.)
Floral Styrofoam (Can be found at most craft stores such as Michaels)
Clear cellophane wrap (Can also be found at most craft stores such as Michaels)

Instructions:
1. Prepare your vase by inserting the floral Styrofoam in the base

2. Pineapple Flowers
Cut the pineapple into half an inch slices (each bouquet will need at least 5 slices/these will become the flowers)
Use the cookie cutter to cut a flower imprint on each pineapple slice.
Use the water melon baller to scoop a ball of fresh cantaloupe or melon
Slide the pineapple flower on the tip of the bamboo skewer and place the melon ball over the pointing tip.
Create about five (or more) of these flowers using the melon or the cantaloupe on the tips for a variation in the flower.
Place the flowered skewer firmly into the Styrofoam base which is in the vase.

3. Grape Arrangements
Slide six grapes on about six skewers
Slide each skewer into the Styrofoam base

4. Strawberry Flowers
Place a fresh strawberry on the tip of a approximately six skewers bottom side up
Slide each skewer into the Styrofoam base

5. Cantaloupe & Melon Wedges
Cut the cant elope and melon into three inches moon shaped wedges and place on skewers.
Slide each skewer into the Styrofoam base.

6. Carefully arrange the fruit in the desired positions. Cut the skewers to a shorter length to fill in around the bottom of the vase. Fill the skewers in so that they fit snuggly near one another. Wrap in clear cellophane wrap & tie it with a bow. (Store in a fridge/keep cold)
