Travelers should be sure and rent a 4X4 for the ground travel leg of this trip.
If travelers choose to say in Santiago the cost of a hotel can range from $30.00 to $50.00 for room with three beds and for his price the air conditioning is included. Meals are reasonably cheap and travelers can eat typical breakfast for the Santiago area, which consists of meat and fried bread, accompanied by Coke or other drink.

Isla Coiba Island Prison for Christmas
An island located off the coast Sana Catalina on the Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama. Reported to be haunted this island is a great Christmas spot for the adventurer. The need to rent a boat with captain, along the slips in Santa Catalina will take travelers to the shores of the Gulf of Chiriqui and then a wonderful cross water trip to the Island of Coiba. Once tat the Island visiting the Coiba National Park where the prison calls home will be a days adventure. For those who have a larger Christmas adventure in mind then speaking with the local caretakers will give them a change to spend the night in this Haunted area of Panama. Campers/visitors who wish to spend the night must have a guide and agreement to stay with those who are in residence. Isla Coiba can be a dangerous place with the prison closed and in disrepair and the staff underfunded there is now problems with poachers preying on the wildlife so this Christmas Holiday location is for those who are experienced, careful, well trained, travelers. However, a day trip to the Penal Island is a great adventure for any traveler to the area and no immanent danger when day travelers follow the rules and use the guides that are required.
