Unusual Halloween Costume Ideas for College Students or Adults

Make a political point by being an "oil spill" for Halloween. The base for the costume could be made out of black or gray felt. Then make a concoction of oily liquids from items around the house like salad dressing. Slime some of it on the costume.

Then add some anti off shore drilling slogans to the costume. Wear black leggings under the costume. Make some faux seaweed from green felt and hang it from the costume by attaching it with safety pins. Or, if you live near the shore get some real see weed from the beach.

If you can find a doll that is in the shape of a pelican or other sea creature at a thrift shop attach that to the costume too. But first draw on it in black marker to represent it being covered in oil.

Mama Grizzly: Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin has been getting called a "Mama Grizzly" in the media a lot lately. Thus it would be fun to make some sort of grizzly costume out of felt and wear a Palin mask with it. Campaign slogans could be written on poster board and pinned to the costume.

Glen Beck Pretend Brainiac

Have a fun Halloween pretending to be Glen Beck. Wear dress pants, an oxford shirt and a tie. Get a pair of empty eye glass frames to wear. Carry a blackboard that has written on it "I'm an Idiot."

Wear a name tag that says "Glen Beck." Write out some key words on poster board about whatever Beck is blathering on about the week of Halloween. Then attach them to the costume.

Snooki

Snooki is a character from the show "Jersey Shore" that people either love or hate. Either way, being Snooki for a day on Halloween would be a hoot. So start gathering supplies. Get some fake tan lotion, some short dresses and high heels and some fake eyelashes. Find a long brunette wig, or make a faux wig with some long strips of black felt glued to a head band.

Get a McCain button for Snooki to wear. You could also create some little slogans for Snooki to add some humor to the costume. Attach pieces of poster board to the dress that say things like "Jersey Girls Rule," "Snooki Power" or "Snooki Zone."

Have fun with this costume. Snooki is practically a caricature of Jersey girls. She is an exaggeration of the party lifestyle at the Jersey shore. A Snooki costume will get a lot of laughs on Halloween.

Wall Street Dude or Chick

Have some fun with the roller coaster ride of Wall Street. Dress up as a Wall Street dude or chick for Halloween. First, make a replica of a Porsche convertible out of poster board. Cut a hole in the middle for you to wear the car as part of the costume. Then get some preppy weekend clothes like a Ralph Lauren shirt and khaki pants. Tuck a replica of an iPhone in the pant pocket.

Next, out of green poster board, make a zig zag, up and down lightening bolt to represent the flow chart of the stock market ups and downs. Attach this either to a sporting cap or to the car.
