We all love the unusual and strange, but in the area of Los Angeles, California you can find everything you never thought would make a museum. Within miles of each other and for free entertainment the following is a list of some of the best I found. They are fun to look through and all are meant to be entertainment. Take all you see with a sense of humor. These unique museums are fun for the whole family and there isn't anything of an immoral nature! Just good old fashioned and stranger than strange fun. Maybe it will give you the creative urge to start your own museum where ever you live!

1. The International Surfing Museum at 411 Olive Ave, Huntington Beach, California. Phone 1-714-960-3483 for more information. Live the surf summer with music from the great Jan and Dean. This museum contains surf music, video's and surf boards of every kind. You'll find a treasure trove of toys and even Ukulele's from the dreams of the great wave. Learn about the legends who made surfing famous and the movies that brought us the fun in the sun with surfing magic. Gidget?

2. Frederick's of Hollywood! What can I say. Located at 6751 Hollywood Blvd. in the great Hollywood, California. Displays from panties to their famous push up bra's, they clothed the bodies of the famous from Mae West to Marilyn Monroe to name only a few. Where else can you see thong panties as a museum display in such grandeur and style. Always wild and always free to the public! Go ahead and purchase yourself something wild.

3. The Banana Museum. This was just too hard to believe. But it is true. Someone has immortalized the banana! There are over 17,000 objects that depict banana's. In art, in displays and even in an 8 foot banana couch! You will see more banana's in every direction you look than ever before in your life. Located at 16367 Main St. in Hesperia, California. Don't miss this one? So odd you just have to see it so you can say you did. Banana Split anyone?

4. The Bunny Museum! Ohhhhh, what little girl wouldn't want to see the bunny museum. It is the private home of Candance Frazee and Steve Lubanski and their bunnies. It is a love story of the most unusual kind continued through the collection of anything with bunnies. They do have live bunnies, but it may be hard to tell them from the bunnies in every room, on every shelf and staring at you from every corner. Call ahead for a free tour at 1-626-798-8848 to make an appointment. They only ask to bring fruit or vegetables (no carrots) for the very living bunnies. They are located at 1933 Jefferson Drive in Pasadena, California.

5. The Psychiatry and Industry of Death Museum. This is the strangest of all. It is dedicated to all forms of mental illnesses and the devises from past and present. Located at 6616 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, California this museum boast some scary stuff. They will guide you through shock treatments, drugs, strange forms of unusual treatments that did more harm than good. It is free. The museum is run by a watch dog group by the Church of Scientology and Dr. Thomas Szasz so be aware when you tour. There is nothing positive about the mental illness profession in this museum. Take it all with a grain of salt just like all the others. It is meant to be amusement and always check out the facts for yourself!

Now your list of tours to unusual museums in the Los Angeles area of California has begun. There are many more and there will be times when you will drive by a new one not yet on any list. They are fun to check out and see what is on display, but remember it's all in fun. Do not take anything seriously as you laugh your way to the next one.
