Unusual Quotes for Kwanzaa Cards

J
DIY holiday cards are a fun and personal way to send greetings. There is no shortage of ideas for graphic designs or photos for designing the front of cards, but sometimes coming up with an appropriate message inside can be a little trickier. For those who feel they lack creative writing skills, an appropriate quote followed by a brief personal note can do the trick. These quotes for Kwanzaa cards were collected for a classroom project; you can also use them as essay topics for older children. What is the quotation saying? Which principle of Kwanzaa do you think it relates to? Why?

The seven principles of Kwanzaa (Nguzo Saba) as set forth on the official Kwanzaa website are as follows: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith). I have chosen the quotes from various people and sources which I think illustrate some of these principles and would serve as nice quotes for Kwanzaa cards.
