If you're looking to send your child to a unique Texas summer camp this year, there are plenty to choose from:

In New Braunfels there is the Texas Ski Ranch at 6700 IH 35 North which offers action sports for ages six to 18. For more information, call 830-627-2843.

The 10th Annual USA Chess Camp Tour starts May 29th and goes through Aug. 13-17. A school program and private lessons are also offered. There will be camps May 29-June 1 at USA Chess Academy in Dallas and June 11-15 at All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth. June 18-22 and July 9-13 camps will be held at The Hockaday School in Dallas. USA will also have camps July 2-6, July 23-27, and August 13-17. USA is the largest and most premier summer camp organizer for kids in the U.S. with more than 100 schools nationwide.

Adventure Kids Playcare with locations in Flower Mound, Dallas, Southlake, Plano, and North Dallas offers summer camps Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for age five to 12. There is flexible drop-off and pick-up. For details, go to adventurekidsplaycare.com.

The Art Station which offers growth and healing through the creative arts is located at 1616 Park Place Avenue in Fort Worth. The facility's Therapeutic Art Program is a six-week social skills group for special needs children and teens that may include the autism spectrum disorders, chronic illness, transplant patients, or developmental delays. Camp El Tesoro, part of the Camp Fire USA First Texas Council, is having an Open House May 6th from 2-4 p.m. The program is a specialized grief camp offered for kids who have lost a loved one through death and it may be contacted at 817-831-2111.

Camp Grady Spruce is the residential camp of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, located on the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake at 3000 Park Road in Graford. For additional information, call 940-779-3411.

The Cheer Connection summer camps are for girls ages 4-12 who can enjoy cheering, tumbling, jumping, stunts, and dancing. Located at 6741 Corporation Parkway at I-20 and Markum Ranch Road in Fort Worth, they may be reached at 817-735-4474.

Campers will learn art, dance, music, and drama at Summer Arts College ArtsNet in Bedford. There are six art camps with multiple locations and professional instructors with classes beginning June 11th. Age requirement is six to 15 and each camp is one week long. For a brochure, call 817-283-3406.
At the Primrose Schools camps your child's imagination doesn't take a summer off as they enjoy painting, singing, dancing, drama, writing, or another creative outlet. Part of the program is Road Trip USA which will include embarking on an action-packed journey across the country.
