Whether you have been together for a few months or you are about to celebrate your fiftieth wedding anniversary, it never hurts to do something a little extra to let that special someone know that you love them. Here are a few ways you can do just that:
Flowers that say volumes
Throughout history different flowers have been symbolic. So tell that special someone all you feel for them through flowers. From the list below pick out the flowers that say what you want to say. Attach a small card with ribbon that says what the flower symbolizes. You can go all out and get large numbers of each flower, or just get a few different flowers and arrange them in a bouquet.
Ivy: fidelity
Bluebell: constancy
Red Chrysanthemum: Love
Honeysuckle: devoted affection
Red Rose: purity and loveliness
Red and White Roses: unity
Snowdrop: hope
Violet: faithfulness
Carnation: engagement
Jasmine: Hindu symbol for love
Sunflower: infatuation
Apple blossom: promise
Gardenia: Joy
Holly: domestic happiness
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Get out the camera and start strolling. Find pictures on billboards or create pictures with natural objects (i.e. leaves, pebbles etc.) that spell out "I love you." Have the pictures developed, put them in the right order and leave them on the nightstand or some other place where your significant other will find them.
Starry, Starry Night
Put glow in the dark stars over their bed that say, "I love you."
Hide and Seek
Bring back those childhood games by hiding small boxes throughout the house. Put short letters in each box and tell some reasons why you love them. Just let them find the boxes throughout the day.
Write it out
Use dry erase markers to write I love you on the mirror in the bathroom. Leave a note someplace they will find it. Write I love you with small food items such as cereal or small candies and leave it at their spot at the table.
Delivery!
Tell some neighborhood kids that you'll give them a dollar to make a delivery to your house for you. Get a puzzle and write I Love you on it. Have the kids deliver a few pieces at a time with some small gifts such as favorite candies and small stuffed animals. Your significant other will love getting the small gifts and enjoy waiting to see what the puzzle says.
Balloon Bouquet
Get a bag of balloons. Write small love notes roll them up and put them inside the blown up balloons. Tie strings on the balloons and arrange them together. Include a note with a safety pin explaining that they'll need to pop the balloons to find out what is inside.
