I personally was truly "amazed" at how well 79 year old Edward Asner animated character (Carl Fredrickson) kept up his voice and the fact of his Hollywood speed of simple common sense in this film for a person of his age! A lot of people at his age have a hard time reading or even hearing? Little long, understanding and pronouncing the words verbally in a comical and humanitarian sense of daily life! Ironically, the film producers forgot to also mention in their Walt Disney advertisement, just how unique the audio portion (sound) conversations were regarding each one of these characters in this truly historic 2009 Disney film.
Especially, the animation voice of the small boy scout "Russell" (Jordan Nag). "Russell and Carl" spend a small time together in their life's that they will never forget flying way above the earth in Carl's small 2 story wooden house powered by his over 1,000 helium balloons, which 79 older age Carl (Edward Asner) specialized in and made his living throughout his entire life. Carl's lifetime 40 year wife recently died, so he has nothing else to live for except to visit the Paradise falls in South America, which him and her had tried to save for over their lifetime together as their vacation goal in life, but failed.
Young "Russell" (Jordan Nagai) has one of the most truly gifted voices for sound in modern day films. After you listen to the film for a while? You will recognize Edward Asner's voice. And then, realize just how remarkable these two voice-over characters are truly great in every sense of life! Although, at times, the plot or story seems to be a little bit complicated or "sad" regarding adult themes for small children, which I believe writers could have made this more "Movie Simple?" for small children below the ages of 10 and below.
This film has an excellent modern day version of computer animation, especially in the 3-D version. The cartoon at the beginning is kind of "weird" especially for young children, which shows how the stork brings babies into the world? And, ironically for young children, how mean and cruel the world can really be in everyday life regarding competition? "So which one is better?" The good guy or the bad guy?" This small story cartoon at the beginning of the film seems to be very confusing for small children. (Film producers should have left this part out).
Edward Asner plays the leading audio voice-over role in this 2009 animated hit Disney film. I personally give this incredible television actor an A+ or 5 stars award, simply because of his talented voice and the fact that he is still "coherent" and simply understands "What's going on in the world today?" at his age of 79. It's obvious this Mary Tyler Moore show talented editor, has taken extreme care of himself throughout the years and will most likely continue to do so in the future. God Bless you Edward Asner! Keep up the good work no matter how old you are!
