The Triangle Youth Brass Band (TYBB) and Triangle Youth Brass Ensemble (TYBE), under the leadership of Conductor Tony Granados, have three concerts lined up in the local Triangle area, and all three concerts promise to be exciting and stellar performances.
The 2009 dates of the concerts are February 8th, March 21st, and May 23rd.
First up is a concert featuring guest performing artist, tuba player Marty Erickson. Marty Erickson was the Principal Tubist for the United States Navy Band for twenty-six years and is now teaching low brass in Wisconsin and performing with several ensembles, as well as holding brass clinics across the country.
The concert is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th at 4:00pm and will be held in Meymandi Concert Hall, part of the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, NC. Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students. These are General Admission tickets and are available at the door or through Ticketmaster.
The second concert is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at 8:00pm and will be held at Fletcher Theater, also part of the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, NC.
The concert will feature the music that the TYBB and TYBE are preparing as part of the annual North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) competition. The TYBB and TYBE have an impressive track record at NABBA, and this concert should be outstanding as the bands do a final tune-up before heading to Louisville, KY for the competition the first weekend in April.
The final concert of the spring for the TYBB and TYBE is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd, at 8:00pm, and will feature Guest Composer and Conductor Philip Sparke, who is a phenomenal and prolific composer of brass and concert band music. This promises to be an amazing concert!
