Upcoming Comic Book Movies for 2007

In the last few decades there have been a nonstop release of comic book movies and at least 95% of them have been flops. The movies that have done it the best are Superman (Christopher Reeves), Spiderman and X-men. Those movies were more than just comic books taken to the big screen. They featured great story lines and realized that a movie cannot stand on its own with nothing but fight scenes and a big of action. From the list below I suspect that Spider-Man 3 and Fantastic Four 2 will do the best money wise, in the comic book genre.

The movie 300 is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller and is a story about the epic Battle of Thermopylae. King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans fought against Xerxes in a battle to the death. It is said that their sacrifice inspired all of Greece to stand together and bring about Democracy.

This newest CGI animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie is a standalone and has nothing to do with the previously released live action movies. The TMNT movie begins after the defeat of their arch nemesis Shredder. Now that their biggest threat is gone, the turtles have grown apart much to the dismay of their Sensei Splinter. The turtles will come back together once again to fight a new threat, Maximillian J. Winters and the Foot Clan.

The third installment in the Spiderman series is shaping up to be one of the best movies so far. In this sequel Peter Parker has finally learned to manage his personal life and his duties as a superhero. This new piece only lasts a short while because his trademarked red suit suddenly turns black and so does the soul of Spiderman. Peter Parker now has to control his good and evil sides, deal with a former best friend who wants him dead (Harry Osbourn/Green Goblin 2), Sandman, and Venom.

The sequel to Fantastic Four has the four heroes coming up against the Silver Surfer. He is a herald who surfs the universe looking for planets that will eventually be devoured by Galactus. The film will also see the return of the Fantastic Fours arch rival Dr. Doom and recently the director has said that Galactus will also make an appearance.
